Bill Billings
William (Bill) Billings of Huron Beach, Ocqueock, Mich., and formerly of St. Thomas died at Huron Beach Saturday in his 82 year.
Born in St. Thomas, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Billings, he worked as a yardmaster for the Pere Marquette Railway (Chessie System) before he moved from St. Thomas in 1928.
Mr. Billings was a strong, right-handed pitcher wit the St. Thomas Saints and Tom Cats of the Southern Couties and Intercounty Baseball Leagues in the 1920s.
While in St. Thomas, Mr. Billings pitched St. Thomas to several league championships.
Surviving are his wife, Ariel Watson Billings; two datughters, Mrs. Harry (Ariel) Goodridge of Huron Beach, Mich., and Mrs. Harold (Maxine) Hodges of 220 Elm Street, St. Thomas; a son, William Billings Jr. of Detroit, Mich.; three granchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. A son, the late Jack Billings, died in the Second World War.

Huron Beach resident, William A. Billings, age 81, of Arrowhead Lane was dead on arrival at the Rogers City Hospital, Saturday, June 7th, at 1:30 p.m. after suffereing an apparent heart attack.
Born in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, October 21, 1893, he married the former Ariel Watson on April 7, 1920 also in St. Thomas. In 1928 they moved to Detroit where he was employed with the Ford Motor Company in their Experimental Department. After his retirement in 1960, they moved to the Huron Beach area.
Surviving besides his wife, are one son, George of Detroit; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Ariel) Goodridge of Huron Beach and Mrs. Harold (Maxine) Hodges of St. Thomas, Ontario; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Gungel of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A prayer service was held Monday at 8 p.m. at the Gatzke Funeral Home; and funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke with the Reverenc Herbert J. Meyer with interment in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers for William A. Billings were John Curtis, Casey Donner, Lewis Karsten, Arnold Miller, Harold Spens, and Lee Visner.
