Billing, Clare Leslie, a St. Thomas native whose family dated to the 1840s in the area passed away Sunday June 12, 1983 in hospital in Gale's Ferry, Connecticutt, where he had been living. He was 79. Born in 1904 in St. Thomas, the son of the late Bert Billing, 1913, bandmaster of the former 25th regiment, and the late Rosa Garrrod Billing Cresswell, 1956, Mr. Billing moved for his health in 1924 to Ray, Arizona, where he was employed as an accountant with Kennecot Cooper.
He was transferred in 1955 to Salt Lake City, Utah. Following his 1969 retirement, he moved in 1982 to Connecticutt to live with his son and family
Predeceased in 1936 by his wife, Margaret, Mr. Billing is survived by a son, Clare Betram (Bill) of Gale's Ferry; a sister Mrs. Ernest (Lora) Goddard, of London, four grandsons and four great grandchildren. Following cremation, Mr Billing's ashes are to be interred in Phoenix, Arizona.
