Cockshutt road, of George Rushton, farmer, aged 87 years. Deceased, whose wife
predeceased him years ago, was a well known and highly respected resident of
the township of Brantford. He came from Lancashire, England, and took up a farm
in this section in 1855. he is survived by ten children, viz., William of
Virginia, Hartley of Merriton, Robert, Hiram and George of St. Thomas, Mrs.
D.J.Mithcell and Mrs. J.E.Hetherington of Brantford, Mrs. John Clegg, Paris,
and Joseph and Miss Mary at home. The funeral will take place to Greenwood on
Wednesday afternoon.

Hartley] documented back to her marriage in Colne 5 Mar 1837 to George RUSHTON
in Colne parish. 1840 Trawden census
shows Colne as her birthplace (birthdate was 13 Jan 1814) but I can't find a
baptism in Colne to match that timing.
I've found 2 possible Ann Hartleys but one is 1812 (too early by all
evidence) and the other is about 1820 which is awfully late for baptism (and
she's not Methodist). I keep digging
into the Ontario records hoping something might be there to give me a better
clue on her birthplace and parents. I do
have her obituary from Oct 1889 Brantford Expositor. .

Mitchell, 113 Colborne street, passed away yesterday morning after a very brief
illness. The cause of death was acute indigestion. The deceased, who had attained
the age of 57 years, leaves a husband and large family to mourn her loss. The
children are Mrs. J. Whittaker, city; Mrs. B. Northmore, city; Theodore of
Toronto, and Misses Addie and Ariel at home. Mrs. Mitchell was born in England,
coming to this country at the age of 4 years. having lived in Brantford
practically all her life, the deceased was very well known. She was a member of
the First Baptist church. The funeral takes place tomorrow to Greenwood
cemetery.Mrs. Hetherington of this city is a sister, and the brothers still
living are Joseph of the Cockshutt Road, George, Robert and Hiram of St. Thomas
and William of Kansas City.

Robert Rushton.Robert Rushton passed away Sunday morning in the Brantford
General Hopsital in his eighty-seventh year. Born in England, the deceased came
to Canada when about five years of age. He was associated for many years with
Waterous Limited, farmed for some years on the Cockshutt Road, and had been
retired for some nine or ten years, residing in the City. His wife, formerly
Mary Daragh, predeceased him twenty years ago, and he leaves to mourn his loss
one daughter, Mrs. Clifford Jones, Netherhill, Sask.; one sister, Mrs.
J.E.Hetherington, Brantford; and two brothers, Hiram Rushton, St. Thomas, and
Joseph Rushton, Brantford Township. The body is resting at Thorpe Brothers' Funeral
Home, where the funeral will be conducted Tuesday, with interment in Mount Hope
Cemetery.

of the Lady Trainmen.Besides her husband she is survived by several nieces and
nephews among whom are Mrs. William (Ariel) Billings, Huron Beach, Michigan and
Sister Blanche, of Charity Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio.At rest at the Willimas
Funeral Home and funeral arrangements are incomplete. Rev. R.D. Harmer of
Centre Street Baptist Church will conduct the service. Interment will be in St.
Thomas Cemetery.

Clark, Fred Eaton, William Billings, Mike Sharkey and William Edwards.
Relatives and friends were in attendance from Cleveland, Detroit, St. Thomas
and surrounding districts.

BillingsHuron Beach resident, William A. Billings, age 81, of Arrowhead Lane
was dead on arrival at the Rogers City Hospital, Saturday, June 7th, at 1:30
p.m. after suffereing an apparent heart attack.Born in St. Thomas, Ontario,
Canada, October 21, 1893, he married the former Ariel Watson on April 7, 1920
also in St. Thomas. In 1928 they moved to Detroit where he was employed with
the Ford Motor Company in their Experimental Department. After his retirement
in 1960, they moved to the Huron Beach area.Surviving besides his wife, are one
son, George of Detroit; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Ariel) Goodridge of Huron
Beach and Mrs. Harold (Maxine) Hodges of St. Thomas, Ontario; one sister, Mrs.
Gladys Gungel of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; three grandchildren and several
great grandchildren.A prayer service was held Monday at 8 p.m. at the Gatzke
Funeral Home; and funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Moltke with the Reverenc Herbert J. Meyer with interment in
the church cemetery.Pallbearers for William A. Billings were John Curtis, Casey
Donner, Lewis Karsten, Arnold Miller, Harold Spens, and Lee Visner.
