J. Lawrence Lodge, Well-Known Railway Offical, is Removed
Divisional Storekeeper of Wabash Railroad Dies Suddenly at His Home; With Railroad Here for 31 Years
John Lawrence Lodge, divisional store-keeper for the Wabash Railroad for several years, with office in this city, died suddenly of a heart ailment at his home, 96 Wellington street, Sunday morning, aged 48 years. The news of Mr. Lodge's death undoubtedly was a shok to his many friends in the city and district. He was widely known and one of the most popular railway employees on the division. He was familiarly known as "Lorne."
Mr. Lodge was born in St. Thomas, a son of the late George Lodge and of Mrs. Charlotte Jeffery, Hamilton, Ontario. He attended the Wellington street public school and the St. Thomas Collegiate Institute. He entered the employ of the Wabash Railroad, in this city, 31 years ago, at the age of 17 years.
Mr. Lodge was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, of the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club and also was an ardent five pin bowler, a member of the C.N.R. Wabash team. Surviving Mr. Lodge are his widow, Mrs. Fern Lodge, 96 Wellington street, city; a daughter, Miss Barbara Lodge, at home; his morther, Mrs. Jeffery of Hamilton; and a brother, George Lodge of Cleveland, Ohio.
The remains are resting at the residence, 96 Wellington street. The funeral will be held there Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in the St. Thomas Cemetery. Rev. M. B. Johnson, rector of Trinity Church, will conduct the services.
