Lieut. R. N. Dunnuck Dies in Plane Crash
Lieut. Richard N. Dunnuck, 20-year-old army fighter plane pilot, was killed in a crash Monday, accoridng to word received by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Dunnuck, 231 East Victoria Street.
Lieut. Dunnuck, who was born in South Bend Dec. 4, 1923, and was graduated in 1942 from Riley High School where he starred in football and track, was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Dunnuck, a Studebaker corporation employe, was transferred from the local plant to the corporation's Chicago aviation plant when it was put into operation.
the young lieutenant was a student in Purdue university, West Lafayette, Ind., when he entered the army air forces March 1, 1943.
According to information reaching the paternal granparents, Lieut. Dunnuck, who was based at Key Field, Miss. had been missing since Monday and his body was found in the wreckage of his plane Thursday night. Details of where the accident occurred were not known by the local relatives.
The body will arrive in South Bend Sunday and be taken to the Orvis funeral home were the funeral services will be conduct by Elmer A. Higgins, C.S.B., at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The body will be taken to Chicago for cremation.

the body of Lieut. Richard N. Dunnuck, army fighter plane pilot, who was killed in a crash near Beaumont, Miss., Monday, is expected to arrive here at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, escorted by Chaplain Taeden, of Key Field, Miss. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Orvis funeral home by Elmer A. Higgins, C.S.B.
