Christena Barbara Schmachtenberger, consort of Adolph Schmachtenberger, nee Smeltz, was born in Seneca county, Ohio, and died near Bryan, Williams county, Ohio, May 3, 1887, aged 32 years and 6 months.
She was converted at the young age of 16 and united with the Lutheran church and remained a respected and faithful member of the same until seven years ago when she united with the Ev. Association and remained faithful unto death. She died as she had lived, in peace with God and her fellow beings and fully trusting in teh atoning merits of the blood of Jesus Christ. Her end was as calm and peaceful. She left a broken family circle and many loving friends the rich legacy of a beautiful christian example. She leaves a husband and four children, father and mother and brothers and sisters to mourn their loss.
Funeral from the Ev. church, Thursday afternoon, which was largely attended. Funeral discourse was preached by Rev. W. H. Brightmore, pastor Evangelical church, Waterloo, Ind., from Phil 1:21.
