Obituary. Susan Miller Schmachtenberger. Our hearts are sadder with loving sympathy for her husband and family, whose grief in this time of severe trial, is sacred to us all, as with profound reverence and respect, we chronicle the departure or one so good and useful in a long life of service, in the person of Susan Miller Schmachtenberger, who was born in Stark county, Ohio, December 9, 1840, and died at her late home in Bryan, Williams county, Ohio, January 13, 1913, at the age of 72 years, one month, and four days.
She came from Stark county to Williams county with her parents when but a child. She was the fourth child of a family of twelve children, six boys and six girls. The subject of this obituary lived with her parents Henry and Rachel Miller near Edon, Ohio, and was married to Adolph Schmachtenberger April 21, 1888. She, with her husband, was a member of the Evangelical Church south of Bryan, until services at that place were abandoned.
She leaves a husband, three brothers, David, at Edo, Ohio, Anthony at Hamilton, Ind., John, at Union city, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Strock, Bryan, Ohio, and Mrs. Murphy, Edon, Ohio, and four foster children, Susie living at home in Bryan; Mrs. S.S. Bishop, Reading, Mich; Mrs. L.J. Salsbury, Montgomery, Mich.; and C.F. on the farm near Bryan. [prayers here]
The services were conducted at the residence by Rev. O.F. Laughbaum of the U.B. church, assisted by Rev. L.A. Myers of the Brethren church. A large number of relatives, friends, and neighbors attended the services, paying a beautiful tribute to the departed, and expressing their sympathy to the bereaved ones. The body was gently laid away in Fountain Grove Cemetery, the white city of the dead, to e reunited with the soul at God's call, in the "City which hat foundations, whose builder and maker is God."
Died. Mrs. Susana Schmachtenberger died Monday night at the age of 72 years, one month and five days. She was a daughter of Henry J. Miller, and was born in Stark County. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon.
